Best Websites To Find Your Next Film Shoot Location
With the internet helping every business taking out the middle man - location management for smaller productions is digitally transformed as well. Here are some websites that will help you find and book filming locations online.

You’ve heard of AirBnB before right? “a peer-to-peer marketplace for booking”

Below are some websites that work just like that – but for Film, Video, and Photography Productions!

🎥 Think of them as AirBnB for film locations.

How does it work?

→ People who want to host their space for photography or filming will list their locations.
(Pictures, pricing, etc.)
→ Website will gather a library of these locations and present it in a way that is easy to sort for the user.
Producers/photographers/organizers scroll around and search from the selection.
→ These websites have their booking system with their payment process and location agreement.
→ It has a rating and review system to promote good relations for the host and the user.

Peerspace

peerspace.com

Peerspace launched in February 2014 and gained popularity among photography freelancers and indie event producers.

Here are all the cities Peerspace has locations in:

US: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Washington, DC.

Europe: Berlin, London, Paris

The welcome screen has the search for:

Activity, City, Date

Advanced search options include Price, number of attendees, and filters like space type and additional features.

You can also choose the map viewing option and see the destination & distance from your production basecamp.

Giggster

giggster.com

Giggster is designed specifically for the filming industry. They offer coordinate permits, site reps, and location scouts as well as offer variable pricing for different crew sizes and shoot types.

Here are all the cities Giggster has locations in:
Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Palm Springs, Chicago

The user interface welcomes you with:
Activity and City.

Other search options include property types, styles, features, and other keywords.
Once you select the location, you can pick your date and have an estimated price.

Set Scouter

setscouter.com

Set Scouter buying Wrapal was one of the major acquisitions in the “entertainment physical production technology” industry.

Starting with film location scouting, they aim to develop tools to make the process easier, faster, and more affordable. The company’s motto is “we know production.”

Upon registration, you will have customer support that will help you with additional services with production.

The user interface welcomes you with:

“What are you looking for” and the city.

The next page enables you to select a ‘Price Range’ where you can specify based on your budget.

Why should you use these?

→ Hosts are experienced on welcoming productions, they will be able to guide you answer questions (like measurements or parking situation, etc.)
→ They don’t use lenses that can cheat your clients because they know you are looking at it with expert eyes.

But AirBnB is cheaper!

Remember, AirBnB owners are NOT signing up to have 10+ people with their shoes on, with a bunch of equipment entering their house for filming.

It is a phobia of any AirBnB host for the guests to use their property in a way that is not intended.

Especially if they don’t know what you are filming, seeing you with a truck full of gear is a sure way to get you in trouble.
